OLD GLORY 2, PERCY WATERS
OLD GLORY, PERCY WATERS
Old Glory 2: Percy Waters continues Yellow Beak Press’s commitment to preserving and documenting the history of American tattooing. This volume focuses on the legendary Percy Waters and includes a collection of rare flash, photographs, ephemera, and a biography. It also features examples of flash from other tattoo suppliers of the same era to show how Waters’s work fit alongside that of his contemporaries.
HARDCOVER, 8.5X11, 366+PGS
Continuing the theme established in the first Old Glory volume, the second half of this book is dedicated to usable line drawing reference. Each design was carefully selected and redrawn by Moises Exposito, Christopher Maier, and Nick Filth into clean, practical line drawings while maintaining the essence of the original artwork and Waters’s distinctive hand. The result is a LARGE, easy to navigate reference book filled with THOUSANDS of designs By SUBJECT MATTER.
This is the LARGEST reference book we have ever produced by YELLOW BEAK measuring nearly twice as thick as the first Old Glory volume.
The lady head and pin up sections alone span more than ninety pages each, with four or five designs on most pages, offering an exceptional amount of reference material for tattooers and collectors.
To preserve the character of the original materials, the vintage typefaces used throughout Waters’s catalogs and advertisements were recreated by hand and incorporated into the book’s design. Bound in blue debossed cloth with extra-thick boards for durability, Old Glory 2: Percy Waters stands as the most comprehensive reference book Yellow Beak Press has ever made.
